a Word on 2023..

Whilst we fundamentally believe that every family should benefit from an increased kindergarten subsidy, we are obliged to consider the rigid conditions attached to the Government's “Free Kindergarten” policy, and how they will affect the program quality and the financial sustainability of our much loved kindergarten.

We are a not-for profit organisation, managed by a committee of volunteer parents. Our fees cover the fixed and variable costs of running the kindergarten, which includes wages, insurance, utilities, cleaning, and specialist supplies, as well as the many wonderful experiences and incursions that ensure an enriched learning experience for your child. The funding that is offered under the "Free Kindergarten' policy falls well short of covering the costs required to deliver our high quality program. By committing to a fee structure for 2023 allows our staff to focus on our children, while the Committee of Management focuses on the financial viability of the organisation.

Summerhill Park Kindergarten, along with our neighbouring Boroondara Kindergartens, will continue advocating for the allowance of gap payments throughout 2023, so we can hopefully receive a kindergarten subsidy that will be passed onto all families. The way it should be.

We will likely be restructuring our groups for 2024 to increase hours for both three and four year old groups. If you would like to be part of this discussion, the best seat is at the table at our monthly committee meetings. Please advise your interest to be included.
