A Note for 2027 Families

Summerhill Park Kindergarten is currently included in Boroondara Council’s infrastructure renewal schedule, with works planned for 2027. We’re excited to share that we now have a confirmed relocation site for that period—Solway Primary School. This temporary move keeps us local and connected to our community while the SPK building is upgraded.

All the things you love about SPK—our amazing educators, child-led philosophy, and nurturing environment—will continue at our temporary home.We encourage families to choose their preferred kindergarten based on what best aligns with their values and what feels like the right fit for their child. The Council’s central enrolment system allows you to update preferences at any time without affecting your place in the allocation process, so you’ll still have flexibility as more details are confirmed.

Free Kinder at SPK

The Victorian Government has committed $9 billion to expand access to kindergarten across the state.

As part of this, “Free Kinder” is available for all Victorian three- and four-year-old children at participating services. This ensures every child has the best start in life, no matter where they live.

At Summerhill Park Kindergarten, we offer a 15-hour Free Kinder program for both 3- and 4-Year-Olds, as well as a 22.5-hour extended option for 4-Year-Olds, with a gap fee applied for the additional 7.5 hours beyond the funded entitlement.

While Free Kinder funding reduces the financial barrier for families, it doesn’t fully cover the cost of delivering our high-quality, play-based program. To continue providing the enriching experiences SPK is known for (including incursions, class resources, and extra educator support), we invite families to make an annual Voluntary Contribution.

This helps sustain our nurturing environment and ensures our educators have what they need to

help your child thrive.

Summerhill Park Kindergarten would like to acknowledge the people of the Wurundjeri tribe of the Kulin Nations, as the traditional custodians of the land and pay our respects to Elders past and present.
